Principals Report Week 9 Term 3
Dear Parents and Friends,
I trust that everyone is keeping safe and well. Attached to this newsletter is communication from Catholic Education regarding screen time during remote learning. As teachers, we are conscious of the amount of screen time needed for remote learning and try to balance digital time with other activities to give the students a break from interacting with their devices. Please continue to encourage outdoor time for some fresh air and exercise and valuing family time doing activities such as cooking or reading and enjoying one another’s company in play.
Performance Assembly
We will be holding the Performance Assembly but with a difference this term. Students who wish to participate can prepare an item to audition which will be broadcast on the last day of this term via online means. Individual students can prepare an item – no longer than 1 ½ minutes in length, video record it and upload it for submission to their teacher/s. The teachers will then decide the best acts from each class to include in the final production. This will then be available to view from 2pm on Friday 17th September via Clickview and can be watched at any time that suits each family. It will be available to view until 9am 20th September. The staff and students always very much look forward to this special event which provides a bit of fun and entertainment to lead us into the school holidays. More information on how to access the screening of the Performance Assembly will be emailed to parents next week.
Class Structure 2022
Rosary has seen a rise in enrolments over the past year with many families expressing a desire to become part of our community. This is a wonderful affirmation for our school and we have been pleased to welcome many newcomers this year. Consequently, I am pleased to inform parents that Rosary School has received approval to expand to 14 classes next year which means that the multi-age structure will revert to a single year level structure and the school will be 2 stream across the board. The average class size will be 23.6 students.
Therefore, the structure of classes across the school will be as follows for the 2022 school year:
2 x Kindergarten classes
2 x Year One classes
2 x Year Two classes
2 x Year Three classes
2 x Year Four classes
2 x Year Five classes
2 x Year Six classes
Swimming Program Term 4
Unfortunately, the two-week swimming program in which the whole school usually participates in Term 4 of each year, has again been cancelled. Due to the restrictions in place to manage COVID-19, the AIS has advised us that they have cancelled all School Program bookings. In place of the water-based program, we will be delivering a dry-land water safety program to all students in Term 4 this year. It is hoped that this program will, at least, provide students with the basic skills to stay safe in and around water. We feel that this is especially important in the lead up to the Summer holiday period.
Thought for the Week:
“Dance like nobody’s watching.
Love like you’ve never been hurt.
Sing like nobody’s listening.
Live like it’s heaven on earth”
Mark Twain

Rostrum Semi-Final - Congratulations Sarah Rogic!
Last Thursday night, Sarah Rogic from year 6 Athens participated in the Rostrum Public Speaking Semi- Final via Zoom. This was a challenging task as we all know it is extremely intimidating ‘performing’ in front of your iPad to strangers, especially when it’s a competition! Sarah was finding the humour in ‘dressing-up’ in school uniform for a Zoom in her home at 6.30pm, when she would normally be relaxing on the lounge in her pjs!!!
Sarah would also like to thank Miss Rich for organising our school’s participation this year.
Her well-practised speech was fabulous! Although Sarah didn’t progress to the ACT final, we all want to acknowledge and congratulate her on her achievement! We are so proud of you Sarah!
Due to the current ACT lockdown, all events planned for the remainder of Term 3 have been postponed. Updates will be provided once new dates are known.
- Performance Assembly (Online) - available for viewing via Clickview from Friday 17th September 2pm until Monday 20th September 9am (login details provided next week)
The school counsellor, Jessica O'Rourke, is available every Monday and until 1pm on Tuesdays.
You can refer your child for counselling by filling in a referral form available on Catholic Care’s website or follow this link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
After you have filled out the referral form you will automatically be sent an email requesting your consent for your child to access the service. In the case of families where parents are separated, consent of both parents is normally required. If this is difficult for you please feel free to discuss with Jessica.
