Principals Report Week 11 Term 4
Dear Parents and Friends,
This is the final newsletter of the year and I can’t believe that it’s the last newsletter that I will ever write! I have been truly blessed, in the five years that I have been Principal at Rosary, to have come to know the people who make up this wonderful community. It has been a privilege and an honour to be a colleague of such dedicated staff members, to work with parents and alongside the Community Council and the Parish for the best outcomes for the students.
I would like to make special mention of the fact that our Community Council Chair, Jackie Brady, is leaving the position after 4 years in the role. I sincerely thank Jackie for her leadership of the Council and for her hard work in the best interests of the school. I am indebted to Jackie for the wonderful support that she has provided to me in my role as Principal. I also thank the other Council members who are leaving their positions and thank them for their dedication to the school over their terms of office.
Last but certainly not least, and pehaps best of all, it has been a great pleasure to be part of the lives of all the children who have been enrolled over the years.
I will miss everyone dearly. I know that the school will continue to be a wonderful place because it is the people of this community who make it so. Thank you for the richness you have added to my life both professionally and personally. I wish you all God’s blessings into the future and hope that our paths will cross again.
Carols by Daylight
The Carols by Daylight gathering was a wonderful celebration for staff and students. The sun came out to bless us so we gathered in different locations in grade groups, facing one another, around the quadrangle. Each grade took their turn to present two Christmas songs and it was a delight to hear the children singing with such joy and to see them all decked out in Christmas colours. The occasion made us all realise that Christmas really is just around the corner!
Fundraising for Charities
Thank you to the whole community for your generosity in supporting our Catholic charities this year. The amount raised in support of others was impressive. Thank you one and all for your kindness and amazing generosity. We are truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.
End of Year Mass and Year 6 Graduation
The End of Year Mass and Year 6 Graduation were very special occasions that occurred this week. I thank Mrs Higgins for preparing such a moving Mass and all the students for the very prayerful way in which they participated. I especially thank the Year 6 teachers, Mrs Pangallo, Mrs Fryar and Mrs Campton, for all the work they put into ensuring that the Graduation Ceremonies were meaningful and memorable for the students. I cannot thank the Yr 5 Parents Graduation Committee enough for their tireless and generous efforts. Thank you to Urszula Bogdanoski, Felicity Tonkin, Kylie Jenson, Jo and Marcus Hon and Angela Frawley as well as ex-students: Amelia Hon, Remy Frawley, Isabella and Juliana Bogdanoski. They worked so very hard to make the Graduation a truly special occasion for our leaving cohort of Yr 6 students and their efforts have been much appreciated by one and all. Many thanks must also go to Michael Conlin from Mel Hill Photography for donating the photo booth and staying to operate it so that the students were given the opportunity to take away wonderful memories of their special night.
Year 6 students: We wish you every blessing as you take the next step of your life journey and thank you for the wonderful contribution you have made to Rosary over the time you have been at the school.
At this time, we farewell some families who will end their association with the school because they will no longer have children enrolled. We thank them for their support of this community over the years and also wish them every happiness and blessing for the future. Goodbye to families:

REPEAT NOTICES:
2022 Start of School Date
The 2022 school year will begin on Monday 31st January for all students, Kindergarten to Year 6. The school day will start at 9.00am for students in Years 1 to 6. Kindergarten students will start at 9.30am on the first day only. The day will end at 3.00pm for students who catch a bus to rural destinations and at 3.10pm for all others. Kindergarten students will have a rest day at home for the first 3 Wednesdays of the term before starting full weeks at school in Week 4 (week beginning Monday 21st February).
Candy Canes and Christmas Cards
At this time of the year, children like to give one another candy canes and Christmas cards; which is a lovely thing to do. However, we ask children to place cards into their bags as soon as they receive them so that they don’t become lost and we ask them to take the candy canes home to eat. We inform the children that it is not appropriate to eat candy canes at school for a few reasons:
- Parents provide certain foods and expect that their children will eat these foods and not fill up on ‘other’ things
- Parents need to know what their children are eating
- The school discourages consumption of foods containing high levels of sugar, colourings and preservatives for health reasons
- Some children may have allergies to certain foods
- The wrappers are often hard to peel off the cane, coming away in ‘bits and pieces’ which often don’t find their way to the bin and thus create a litter problem.
I ask that you also speak with your children about these things and ask them to bring candy canes and cards home so that you can see what they have received. Many thanks.

Who could have predicted this time last year, the sort of year that we would have travelled through?? Gratefully, we all have a renewed view of the importance of family and the most important things in life! We have had a crazy end of year with the storm damage, Bookfair and Bookweek dress up day. Thank you to all our wonderful RPS families for the support provided in a myriad of ways through:
Bookclub: Sandy Bigna- you are a treasure!! Thank you, Sandy for taking the Bookclub Convenor job on for 2022.
Book covering: Urszula Bogdanoski, Nicole Arndt, Nikki Gingell, Kellie Goldsworthy ....with a long covid memory, I may have missed someone, please forgive me!
Mrs van der Sanden: Vicky's unwavering support of our Library over the last five years!
