Principals Report Week 1 Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers,
COVID-19 Update - Welcome Back In Person
As you may be aware from correspondence earlier this week, parents and carers are welcome to be at school events and be present in person more around the school. Our staff look forward to engaging more fully with you all and continuing to work in partnership with you on your child’s educational journey.
New TV Interactive Panels Installed
This week our interactive TV style panels were installed in the school. They offer a great deal more in the form of technological features, interactivity and picture quality. The new panels will provide teachers with new and innovative ways to use technology to enhance learning.
Year 6 ‘Local’ Camp
This week Year 6 students and staff have enjoyed a 3 day local camp experience/excursion in Canberra as their interstate camp was cancelled last term due to COVID-19. They have packed a lot into their 3 days including ice skating, orienteering at the National Arboretum, outdoor activities at the Greenhills Centre at the Cotter, Bouldering and ten-pin bowling. Tonight they finish their week with a year level celebration in the school with a pizza dinner, disco and movie. I think they will settle in and relax watching the movie quite exhausted from their adventures! Thank you to the Year 6 teachers – Mrs Pangallo and Mrs Fryar, as well as staff and parents who supported the students and helped with supervision. I was able to see the students participate in the bouldering activity today at BlocHous and they were having lots of fun.
Year 5 Jindabyne Camp
Year 5 students and teachers have been a little bit more fortunate in that their interstate camp is going ahead next week. They are heading off to Jindabyne for 3 day/2 nights. Their itinerary includes participating in a number of outdoor education based activities organised by NSW Sport and Recreation. I will be attending the camp along with 3 other teachers.
Catalyst HITP Coaching
On Thursday this week Rosary staff participated in more coaching and observation sessions. Our CATALYST coach was here with us as the teachers presented lessons based on evidence based, high impact pedagogy. The current focus is on embedding our Daily Reviews, with some teachers moving into Explicit Teaching and forms of lesson delivery that meets the needs of all students. Coaching, theory and practice will start again early in 2023.
I wish you all a great week ahead and hope that you are able to attend a school event soon or perhaps assist with classroom learning where needed.
God Bless.

Respect Pride and Safety (Rosary Primary School)
Respect Pride and Safety (Rosary Primary School)
Introducing, modelling, and reinforcing positive social behaviours is an important step of a student’s educational experience.
Each term we focus on teaching positive behaviour at Rosary. This term we are asking students to remember that we are a ‘Hands Off’ school. Our school rules always fall under the banner of Respect Pride and Safety (RPS).
Teachers will be reminding students that games and interactions must be ‘Hands Off’. Our aim is to promote harmony and safety within our school community. Students are also provided with language they can use if someone uses “Hands On’.
‘STOP IT. I DON’T LIKE IT.’
Students are encouraged to go to a teacher and ask for help if someone is using ‘Hands On’.
Signage can be seen in classrooms and corridors to reinforce this positive message.
Hands Off Please!
It’s the Rosary Way………

Hayfever season has arrived with the weather being particularly windy and the pollen count high. We have had many children coming to the front office with hayfever symptoms. If your child is prone to hayfever please consider the treatment you would like them to receive. If you would like your child to be given hayfever medication please fill in a Request to Dispense Medication Form and provide the medication to be stored in the First Aid area. Parents will be contacted prior to any medication being administered. On particularly windy days you may like to consider treating your child before they attend school.
The Request to Dispense Medication Form can be accessed via this link: Request to Dispense Medication and on the school website.

The Rosary Clothing Pool is open to families to purchase second hand uniform items for $5 per piece. Please note that currently only one family is allowed in the room at any one time and hand sanitisation is required upon entry and exit. A key is available from the front office to access the room during school hours for your convenience.

The school counsellor, Hilde de Raadt-Abma, is available every Wednesday and Thursday.
You can refer your child for counselling by filling in a referral form available on Catholic Care’s website or follow this link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
After you have filled out the referral form you will automatically be sent an email requesting your consent for your child to access the service. In the case of families where parents are separated, consent of both parents is normally required. If this is difficult for you please feel free to discuss with Hilde.
Hilde can be contacted via the school or email (hilde.deraadt@catholiccare.cg.org.au) on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Whole Day Absences / Late Arrival / Early Departures - via Parent Portal
Whole Day Absences
If your child is absent from school for a whole day or longer, please submit details of the absence via the Parent Portal. This should be completed within 7 days of the absence.
If your child will only be absent for a partial day, the absence will be recorded as your child is signed in or out via the kiosk at the front office. You do not need to add an early pick up or late drop off via the Parent Portal.
Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.
If an unexplained absence appears that you believe to be incorrect, please send an email to the front office for investigation.
Late Arrival / Early Departures
