Principals Report Week 10 Term 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we end another busy Term at Rosary, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and students for all of their hard work and dedication during Term 1 and to thank all of our parents for the many ways in which they have provided assistance and support to the school. We look forward to another productive term after a well deserved holiday break.
We will also welcome Mr Walker back from Finland in Term 2 and can't wait to hear all about his adventures. Thank you also to Liz Higgins for her work as Acting Assistant Principal in Mr Walker's absence.
Easter Liturgies
As we approach Easter, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our community a blessed and joyful celebration of this holy season.
Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and faith. It is a time to reflect on the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ and to draw inspiration from His teachings of love, compassion, and forgiveness.
May this Easter bring us all closer to God and to one another, and may it inspire us to live out the values of our faith in our daily lives.
In the lead up to Easter, tomorrow we will participate in liturgies commemorating the events of Holy Week at 12pm in the Quad. I thank all the teachers involved for their preparations and efforts in making these meaningful for the children and invite you all to join us.
Thank you to our Acting Religious Education Co-ordinator Ann-Maree Hinds for her preparation of our Easter events and for her work over the past weeks in this important role.
2024 Enrolment Period - 1 May 2023 - 26 May 2023 (Weeks 2 - 5 Term 2)
Please continue to spread the word about the upcoming 2024 enrolment period for Catholic Schools. Dates for open school sessions will be advertised shortly and we look forward to welcoming prospective students and their families to Rosary.
YEAR 3 LITURGY
Thank you to all the parents and friends who were able to join the Year 3 students as they celebrated their grade Liturgy at Holy Rosary last week. Thank you also to Sharon Stiffle and Rachel McKerrow for all their work in preparing the children for the Liturgy.
LAST WEEK FOR PROJECT COMPASSION
Thank you to families who have already donated to project compassion. Your donations to Project Compassion enable Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
We are encouraged to put our compassion into action this Lent through prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each classroom has a Project Compassion box for donations. All donations will be greatly appreciated!
HOLY WEEK LITURGIES
The students will participate in a Liturgy to commemorate the events of Holy Week on TOMORROW at 12noon in the quad. All welcome!
TOMORROW is also the last day for raising funds for Project Compassion. To boost our efforts, students are invited to come in a splash of colour that matches the theme of their grade’s liturgy in exchange for a gold coin (or more) donation.
Colour themes per grade:
- Kinder and Year 6: Palm Sunday (green or bright colours)
- Year 5: The Crucifixion (dark colours - red/black/grey or navy)
- Year 4: The Last Supper (neutral colours - beige/grey/brown or white)
- Year 3: The Agony in the Garden (dark colours - purple/black/grey or navy)
- Year 2: At the Tomb (neutral colours - beige/grey/brown or white)
- Year 1: The Resurrection (any bright colours)
Please ensure your child wears their runners and school hat.
Thank you for supporting Project Compassion.

As this forms part of the preparation for the reception of the Sacrament, both the student and parent/s are expected to attend.

Chess Club has concluded for another term with 47 students enjoying the camaraderie and
opportunity to hone their chess skills every Tuesday afternoon! Our club has certainly grown
in the last five years, now employing four talented coaches! We will start up next term in week
two (due to Anzac Day public holiday) and finish in week ten.
Mrs Dawson has kindly taken over the running and supervision of our club. This activity is one
we do ‘for the love of the game’. We both value this after school enrichment program!
Additionally, I was notified today that there will be a primary school chess competition in week
two of next term. I’ll get notes out 1st day back next term for Chess Club kids who are
interested in attending!

Whole Day Absences
If your child is absent from school for a whole day or longer, please submit details of the absence via the Parent Portal. This should be completed within 7 days of the absence. There is no need to adjust times for whole day absences.
If your child will only be absent for a partial day, the absence will be recorded as your child is signed in or out via the kiosk at the front office. You do not need to add an early pick up or late drop off via the Parent Portal.
Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.
If an unexplained absence appears that you believe to be incorrect, please send an email to the front office for investigation.
The school counsellor, is available every Thursday and Friday.
You can refer your child for counselling by filling in a referral form available on Catholic Care’s website or follow this link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
After you have filled out the referral form you will automatically be sent an email requesting your consent for your child to access the service. In the case of families where parents are separated, consent of both parents is normally required. If this is difficult for you please feel free to discuss this with the counsellor.
