This year the Childrens’ Book Council of Australia’s Book Week Theme is Read, Grow, Inspire. We would like to alert all Rosary families that this year’s Book Week falls in Week Six of Term Three. Book Week is an annual celebration that is a highlight for all students! Each week next term, there will be an intensive literature study on one of the Children's Book Council of Australia shortlisted picture books. By the end of next term, students will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite and find out what the Australian judges have voted as theirs – an interesting discussion in itself! As part of Book week celebrations, we will be asking the students to come dressed as a book character ensuring that they have the book the character relates to with them on the day. I am happy to assist with any book choices. The children will be asked to come to school in their costumes on Friday 25th August. Please be mindful of the suitability of props e.g. swords.
Our annual Book Fair will be held in the Library August 21-24 inclusive. There will be a large selection of books to purchase for your children with 50% of sales being returned to the Library in books and resources.
Have a wonderful winter break and thank you to all families who have made efforts to return outstanding books!
Mrs Dawson
Chess Club has concluded for another term with students practising and refining their chess skills every Tuesday afternoon. We have had a wonderful term learning and playing chess with one of the highlights being some of our girls participating in the ACT Junior Girls’ Chess League Competition.
We will start up next term in week one (18th July) and conclude in week 9 (12th September).
The Rosary Community Council have organsied a Fundraiser for our school - Cards that Count - please see below for details.
Cards will be made in week 10 at school. If your child brought their template home from school yesterday we ask that they please return it to school in readiness for next week. If your child will be absent next week please let the classroom teacher know so that cards can be completed this week instead.
Road upgrades near Rosary Primary School
Road line marking and signage improvements are planned near Rosary Primary School. Please find a copy of the designs attached for your information.
The works are expected to be undertaken in the next three months, with the exact timing subject to the contractor’s scheduling. The contractor will minimise the impact on the school community when undertaking the works, including avoiding working during the school peak periods.

The school counsellor, is available every Thursday and Friday.
You can refer your child for counselling by contacting the school or filling in a referral form available on Catholic Care’s website or follow this link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
After you have filled out the referral form you will automatically be sent an email requesting your consent for your child to access the service. In the case of families where parents are separated, consent of both parents is normally required. If this is difficult for you please feel free to discuss this with the counsellor.
Whole Day Absences via Parent Portal
Whole Day Absences
If your child is absent from school for a whole day or longer, please submit details of the absence via the Parent Portal. This should be completed within 7 days of the absence. There is no need to adjust times for whole day absences.
If your child will only be absent for a partial day, the absence will be recorded as your child is signed in or out via the kiosk at the front office. You do not need to add an early pick up or late drop off via the Parent Portal.
Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.
If an unexplained absence appears that you believe to be incorrect, please send an email to the front office for investigation.
Access to the clothing pool will now be as follows:
Monday - All Day (school hours)
Tuesday - Friday - Before and after school only
Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who maintain the space for our community.
Please note: All donations of preloved uniforms (in good wearable condition) are welcome at the front office.
Car Park Notice - Rosary Netball Training
Rosary Netball Club will be holding training sessions this term on Monday and Friday afternoons between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on the school netball courts.
To ensure the safety of these students, could parents and carers please be mindful not to leave cars on the courts after this time. If you need to be on the premises after 3.30pm, could you please park in the carpark to the side of the hall or in the gravel car park at the rear of the school.
Thank you for your co-operation.
