Principals Report Week 1 Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back for Term 4. I hope all families and students had a chance for a bit of a spring break and also a change of routine over the past 2 weeks of the school holidays. This term promises to be another terrific term with lots of learning and events planned.
60th Anniversary Cocktail Party - Only 3 weeks away- Saturday 4 November!
Remember to buy your tickets for this upcoming event! It will be a wonderful night and a celebration of Rosary School over 60 years and now.
Calling all current and past parents, staff and students to Join us for an incredible celebration.
Please see details in the flyer attached and how to buy tickets.
October - Month of Devotion to Mary and the Rosary
Clearly the Rosary prayer, and the inspiration and love we draw from Mary’s example, is so important to our school, as it was in the life of our patron, Saint Dominic.
“From Mary we learn to surrender to God’s will in all things. From Mary, we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary, we learn to love Christ, her Son and the Son of God.” - St. Pope John Paul II
In the Catholic Church we recognize the month of October as the Month of the Most Holy Rosary! In fact, on October 7th, we celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary! It is during this month that all of us should recognize the tremendous power of the Rosary!
St. Dominic knew the importance of preaching Jesus and is one of the Church’s greatest models of how to do it effectively. In fact, St. Dominic is the founder of one of the great religious orders still preaching Jesus today, the Order of Preachers, most commonly referred to now as the Dominican Order.
Through his personal prayer and efforts to convert souls, the Blessed Mother revealed to Dominic the great gift of the Rosary prayer. It was the rosary that Dominic would popularise and preach throughout his missionary journeys.
In the Rosary, as we pray and meditate on the various mysteries of the life of Jesus, in time, we will pray and reflect on the main moments of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Praying and reflecting on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is one of the greatest things that we can do to deepen our own relationship with God.
Staff and students at our school will pray the Rosary daily through the month of October. Year 6 student leaders will lead the prayer in each classroom after lunch. The twenty mysteries of the Rosary are divided into four equal groups, known as "The Joyful," "The Sorrowful," "The Glorious," and "The Luminous Mysteries."

Staff News
Just for information, Mrs Sharon Stiffle will be away on planned Long Service Leave from Monday 16 October (Start of Week 2) until Friday 3 November (end of Week 4). Mrs Stiffle will be taking some well-deserved time to travel with her family. I wish Sharon all the best during this time. Ms Ellen Fletcher will be teaching Year 3 Casablanca for the majority of days that Mrs Stiffle is away. Ms Fletcher will continue on with the set Year 3 teaching program during this time.
Welcome to new Classroom Support assistants at Rosary
This term we have employed more Classroom Support Assistants to help our students in classrooms. I would like to welcome Keely Thompson, Thomas Hammond and Monica Cougar to our staff. They will each be working 2-3 days. All of these staff members are currently studying teaching so they will gain experience working with our students and staff and it certainly benefits the school.
‘Book Bistro’ in Library
Our school library was again a very interesting place to be! Mrs Dawson ran a special ‘Book Bistro’ for the week where the library was set up as a french restaurant! The theme being “Where good books and friends come together!”
The books on the menu were served on platters by our guest chef and students were treated to a number of courses during their meal/lesson! Students were encouraged to ‘sample’ at least 2-3 books during each course and rate them for their interest. Students then made a list of books they would like to ‘devour’ in the future as part of their choices for their ongoing reading. It was a way for Mrs Dawson to introduce new books and new authors to the students across Kinder to Year 6. Perhaps students may become engaged in a text that will take them further in their reading or give them more enjoyment!
Thank you Mrs Dawson for another great week in the library.
External Painting Work Completed at Rosary
During the school holidays external painting work was completed around the QUAD area of the school. The metal supports and gutters were certainly in need of a good paint as they are ex[posed to the weather and direct sun! The new paint has lifted the whole area and also protects these parts of the building for a number of years to come.
Catholic Education organised the maintenance work, funded through the Catholic Schools’ Building Fund that parents and carers contribute to through their school fee levies. A number of projects have been completed around the school this year, with a master plan and new work planned for the future too.
I wish you all a good start to Term 4 and look forward to a term that finishes the year off well.
God Bless
Greg Walker
Principal
