Dear Parents and Carers
Happy Week 5, midway through the last term of the year!
Kindergarten Orientation Today
Today we welcomed our 2025 Kindergarten students and their parents/carers for their first of two orientations sessions. The students did very well in their classroom activities and the time they spent together. The parents/carers had the opportunity to learn more about the school and the steps for their child to begin Kindergarten, before the children had a play in the junior playground. Thank you to the current Kindergarten parents who provided the beautiful morning tea for our visitors.
Gelato Day 2024
Next Wednesday 20 November is our annual Gelato Day and fundraising day. One of the student’s favourite days of the year I might add! Thanks to our Year 1 parent group for organising the event and for the nice selection of gelatos on offer.
2024 Principal for a Day!
As promised as part of our colour run major fundraiser, one lucky student will be randomly chosen as the principal for a day at Rosary! What an honour. I wonder what they will plan for the students and staff at the school? The day should be a lot of fun and I will get a chance to stand back and watch a future leader go to work!
I wonder who it will be?
Remembrance Day Service on Monday
Thank you to Ms Meg Millband and Mrs Jodie Dawson for organising this service and to the Year 6 students who led the service. Thank you also to the staff who sang during the service and those who played the guitar. It was a very reverent time together and I felt a great sense of gratitude from all the students for the sacrifice our armed forces personnel have done for us and continue to do to enhance peace in our world.
Kindergarten Liturgy last Friday
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended the Kindergarten liturgy in the classrooms last week. This is always a nice liturgy and is important in the faith journey of our youngest students.
Year 1 and Year 2 Liturgy this Friday
This Friday we have our combined Year 1 and Year 2 liturgy at 10.00am in Blackfriars Church. You are warmly invited to attend.
2025 Rosary Swimming Program - Week 6
Next week we look forward to our 2024 swimming program. Thank you for returning your child’s forms with their swimming ability and permission to attend. Water awareness and improving swimming ability is crucial to saving lives in a country with so much access to large masses of inland and ocean water ways. I hope this program increases your child's swimming capacity or awareness. Please remember that your child may also need ongoing swimming training at a local pool to reach a level of full competence and safety.
Thank you to Mrs Hillsdon for preparing all of the information and liaising with the pool to be ready for next week.
New Before and After School and Vacation Care Provider in 2025
As per the compass message sent last week - Community Service #1 has been appointed the new provider for Rosary Primary School.
Information is now being disseminated in various forms for you to peruse.
Community Services #1 will be holding an information session for parents, both current users and potential users, on Tuesday 26 November at 5pm in the Tokyo Classroom at school. You are invited along to hear more information and have any questions you answered. There is no need to RSVP, you are welcome to attend.
Australian Final - Rosary Team Competing in National Kids in Space Final
Good luck to Charlotte Woodhouse, Blake Boyd, Tomas Spoljaric and Lola Cummins as they travel to Adelaide to compete in the National Kids in Space Competition. Mr Evans will accompany them to the competition on behalf of the staff. Thank you to Mrs Watson and Mrs Pangallo who are also part of the Kids in Space teaching group. In Adelaide each state team will present their unique space concept to the people in the Science Centre in Adelaide.
I was lucky enough to hear the students' final pitch or presentation this week and it was outstanding! They have come up with an amazing concept and plan about how humans could live on Mars and help reduce the future issue of overcrowding on Earth! The level of detail in the information of their presentation is amazing.
I wish them safe travels and hope they enjoy the experience and being around like minded STEM and Science experts!
Wishing you all a great week ahead.
God Bless
Greg Walker
