The Rosary Family Mass is on again next Sunday 25th August at 10am. This is a lovely occasion for us to gather and worship as a community and then enjoy one another’s company in a social setting after the Mass. The Parish Team always go to a lot of trouble to prepare a sausage sizzle and a number of delicious sweet treats. Everyone is most welcome!
Book Week Dress Up Day
We are all looking forward to seeing everyone in their book character costumes on Friday of next week! We will hold the parade at the morning assembly. The Book Fair will be in the library from Monday to Thursday for parents and students to purchase some special items. Proceeds go towards earning dollars for the school to purchase resources for the library. The support of our school families is greatly appreciated.
Hats on again!
August is ‘hats on again’ time in accordance with our Sun Smart School’s Policy. Students were informed that they needed to wear their hats again from the beginning of last week. Many students still do not have their hats with them at school. Please ensure your child brings their hat to school each day as students are expected to wear the uniform school hat (or beanie for this term only). Should students not be wearing either of these when outside, they will be directed to play in shaded areas.
Allergies to Nuts
Please remember not to send nuts or products containing nuts to school. Several children are severely allergic to nuts and your cooperation in reducing risks to their health is greatly appreciated.
Prayer for the Feast of the Assumption:
Almighty ever-living God, who assumed the Immaculate Virgin Mary, the Mother of your Son, body and soul into heavenly glory, grant we pray, that, always attentive to the things that are above, we may merit to be sharers of her glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Major Fundraiser for the School
This year, Rosary is hosting the Catholic Schools Netball Carnival on Saturday 19th October. This is a once in a 20 year opportunity for our school to raise significant funds as the responsibility for hosting this carnival is shared around our Catholic schools. Please be aware that this is not a fundraiser for netball – it is a fundraiser for the school and the carnival is the medium through which the funds are raised. This is a huge event on the calendar for the Catholic schools in our system and requires a great deal of support from staff and parents to make it a success. It can be thought of in terms of a sports carnival and a fete all in one! Various committees have been formed and contact persons for each committee have been established. The committees are: Catering, Draw and Teams, Sponsorship and Vendor Management. If you would like to assist on a particular committee please let us know. If you would like to help but are not sure how, please let us know as there are plenty of jobs to cover. If you have particular skills or own a business, or know someone else who does, and would like to contribute, please let us know. There are sponsorship and donation opportunities in return for advertising. Of course, we will need as many helpers as possible on the day for food service and to run stalls and assist with the carnival in a number of other ways. Please keep the date free for our school! If you would like to make contact regarding the Carnival, there is a designated email address to use. The email address is CSNC2019@cg.catholic.edu.au
All students enrolled in the sacramental program should now have their packs. However, we are still waiting on some students’ commitment cards. Please attend to this as part of your preparation for the reception of this Sacrament.
Please return the following by 9 September:
Registration Card and copy of Baptism certificate
Parent and Sponsor letters
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mass – Thank you!
The whole school attended the Feast of the Assumption Mass today. The students participated reverently and sang beautifully. A special thank you to John O’Brien for providing the music and to all who attended.
Rosary Community Family Mass
All Rosary families are invited to attend the family Mass on Sunday 25 August at 10am.
Come along and be part of your parish community!
It is also a fantastic opportunity for those students in Year 6 who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation to connect with their parish.
The parish provide a free sausage sizzle after Mass especially for us. This is always popular with the children and provides a great opportunity for families to have a chat.
Bookweek is next week everyone! The most joyous time of the year for both Jodie and I!!!!
This year's Bookweek theme is Reading is my Super Power. As previously mentioned, we conduct a Scholastic Bookfair in the Library as part of Bookweek (August 19-23). Book sales can be made by students or families before and after school. The fair arrives next Monday mid-morning with sales from 8.30am until 3.30pm daily finishing next Friday! Thank you for supporting the Library in this way with 50% of the total sales returned to the school in free books of our choice.
To end the week of the celebration of literature, we have our Bookweek Dress-up day next Friday, August 23. We will discuss this with the children during Library times. Please know that this event can be as simple as dressing up as a 'normal' character from a fiction book or as detailed as having your child dressed as a specific character from a book. There is no competition...it is merely a day to celebrate all that is wonderful about BOOKS! Our only requirement is that each child needs to have the book their dress-up relates to. Please see either Jodie or myself if you are having trouble securing a book that relates to your child's dress-up character.
So looking forward to meeting and seeing families embrace Bookweek 2019!
Thank you to Alexandria Ardt for your very kind donation of beautiful picture books; they will be read by many children in the years to come!
Its all happening in the library! Bookweek activities all term long!!!
Our Catering Committee will need approximately 150 A4 copy paper boxes (eg. Reflex paper boxes or the like) to prepare team lunches for the Netball Carnival in October.
It would be a great help if anyone with access to these boxes (with lids), either at home or in their workspace, can bring them in to the school so that we can set them aside in preparation for the carnival. Please bring as many as you can - we will be continuing to collect all term!
