Dear Parents / Carers,

Year 3 Liturgy and Reconciliation

Thank you to our Year 3 students and their teachers, Mrs Sharon Stiffle and Rachel McKerrow,  for the beautiful liturgy today. It was a special moment for all present as the students came together with such reverence and enthusiasm.

The liturgy was not only a time for reflection and prayer but also a meaningful preparation those students receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation the following day. The thoughtful participation of the students, along with the guidance of their teachers, helped them to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and God's love and forgiveness.

We are so proud of our Year 3 students for their preparation and their respectful approach to such an important sacrament. A big thank you to all the teachers for their ongoing support in nurturing the spiritual growth of our students.

It’s wonderful to see our students embracing these special moments of faith, and we look forward to celebrating many more with them throughout the year

Fire Drill Monday

Please be aware that our school will be conducting a fire drill on Monday. This is an important part of our safety procedures to ensure that all students and staff are familiar with the evacuation process. We encourage you to speak with your child about the drill so they are prepared, and we thank you for your support in helping to reinforce the importance of safety at school.

Caritas Water Walk – Raising Awareness for a Great Cause

Today, our school participated in the Caritas Water Walk to raise awareness about the global water crisis and the importance of access to clean water. It was a wonderful event, and our students walked with purpose, learning about the challenges faced by many communities around the world.

We will also continue to collect donations for Project Compassion until the end of next week. Supporting Project Compassion helps fund vital programs that provide clean water, education, and other essential resources to those in need. Thank you for your continued contributions to this important cause!

Community Services #1

Today is Sania Faizan’s last day as Director at Rosary Out of School Hours Care. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her work at Rosary and to wish her well for the future. We also welcome Trishna Regmi as the new Assistant Director. The program will continue to run as usual while Community Services #1 fill the role.

Religious Education News: Term 1, Week 9

As we journey through Lent and prepare to celebrate Holy Week as a school, we should try to take time to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and the hope His resurrection brings. The end of this term is a very busy time with lots on at Rosary as we prepare together for the coming of Easter.

Easter Liturgy & Mass Times

 This year our Easter Liturgy will be split up across the school day on Wednesday of Week 10. This will allow teachers to undertake some more focused teaching on each part of the events of Holy Week. If you are able and interested in attending a part of the liturgy you are most welcome, the times and classes are below. The liturgies will be quite short, allowing classes to learn more deeply about these important events afterwards.

As well as the times, please find the colours that the students should wear. We ask that students wear, if possible, a shirt of the listed colour, and their sports shorts.

Supporting Caritas: Walk for Water & Project Compassion

 During Lent, our students have been learning about the work of Caritas Australia and the importance of helping those in need. We thank those who have already contributed and remind families to send in any remaining donations for Project Compassion by the end of the term. Every contribution makes a real difference to communities struggling with poverty and lack of clean water!

This Friday of Week 9, we will also be taking part in Walk for Water, an event that raises awareness of the millions of people who must walk long distances daily to collect water. We encourage students to take part prayerfully and reflect on how we can be Christ’s hands and feet in the world.

Whole Day Absences

If your child is absent from school for a whole day or longer, please submit details of the absence via the Parent Portal. This should be completed within 7 days of the absence.  There is no need to adjust times for whole day absences.

If your child will only be absent for a partial day, the absence will be recorded as your child is signed in or out via the kiosk at the front office. You do not need to add an early pick up or late drop off via the Parent Portal.

Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.

If an unexplained absence appears that you believe to be incorrect, please send an email to the front office for investigation.

Access to the clothing pool will now be as follows:

Just a few reminders about the car parking and drop off / pick up arrangements:

• The speed limit is 5 km/hr in the car park and all road rules apply.
  
  
•  Pedestrians always have the right of way. 

• Park only in the designated parking spaces, facing forwards towards the university. 

• The white markings relate to traffic flow and parking (coloured markings relate to the children’s playing spaces.) 

• The area closest to the Peace Gates is reserved for Set Down Only in the mornings. Parents can stop in the marked bays long enough for children to alight from the vehicle on the quadrangle side and then enter the school through the Peace Gates. 

• For pedestrian safety there is no parking or stopping against kerb near Peace Gates after school. 

• Please note that no reversing is allowed from the bays marked on the courts. 

• Please follow the white arrows and drive in and drive out again in a forward direction only. This is to reduce the risk to children who cannot be seen by reversing vehicles. 

• Due to the spacing of the bays, parallel parking is only available in the area adjacent to the shade shelter on the oval. This area should be used by larger vehicles and trucks wherever possible. 

• Parallel parking is not available adjacent to the university grounds as this space is needed for vehicles to exit the parking area in a forward direction. 

• Parking on the courts is not permitted between 9:15am and 2:45pm as they are used for play at recess and lunch and by classes for sport throughout the day. 

• There is ‘Long Stay’ parking available in front of the hall for parents who spend time at the school after 9:00am. (This is the only area in which reversing to exit is permitted.) This ensures that the courts area is free for classes to use for sports lessons. 

• After school, some parents may need to see teachers or the front office staff. If this is the case, please leave your cars outside in the bus bay or behind the hall on Higginbotham Street as the gates are locked at 3:30pm. 

• All students travelling home by car are to wait in the quad until collected by a parent/carer. 

• Parents waiting for their children after school are asked to move well into the quad to assist access. 

• When children arrive at school, they are to enter via the Peace Gates in the quadrangle. Children are not to enter through the front office foyer. Likewise, children are not to leave through the front office at the end of the day unless catching a route bus. 

• No child is to meet a parent/carer anywhere other than the quadrangle area at the end of school. 

• The children must be supervised in the car park – they are not permitted to go to a parked vehicle without a parent/carer with them.
