Principals Report Week 9 Term 4
Dear Parents and Friends,
Class Lists
Class lists for 2020 will be displayed at the end of the school day on Wednesday 18th December. Please be aware that not all considerations from parents may have been met as a number of factors have to be taken into account when placing children into groups. I encourage parents and children to look at these groupings in a positive light and as an opportunity to get to know different people and experience new things.
Reports and Parent / Teacher Learning Conversations
Semester Two Reports were available at the front office yesterday afternoon for collection by parents. All reports that were not collected have been sent in the post. Following receipt of the report, parents have the opportunity to meet with teachers. These Learning Conversations are not compulsory but provide an opportunity for discussion should there be a need regarding any aspects of the report or the child’s development. Should you wish to make an appointment with your child’s teacher, please phone the front office.
Staffing News
Following a panel selection process, a new School Office Administrator has been appointed to Rosary School. We warmly welcome Mrs Silvia Correia to the role and wish her many years of happy association with our community. I am sure you will join me in welcoming Mrs Correia when she begins work in the office as school commences in 2020. Mrs Colleen Welsh will continue to provide support to the front office as a Clerical Assistant for 2 days each week. I take this opportunity to thank Mrs Welsh wholeheartedly for taking on the full-time role of Front Office Administrator following Mrs Yvonne Morris’ retirement. She did such a wonderful job keeping everything running very smoothly and going ‘above and beyond’ to provide great service to the whole school community.
Farewell
We will say ‘farewell’ to our Year Six students and students from other grades, who are leaving Rosary, at the final assembly at 2.30pm on the last day of school, Thursday 19th December. We will miss each one but wish them every success in both life and learning at their new schools and thank them for the wonderful contribution they have made to our school community.
End of Year Mass and Year Six Graduation Dinner
Graduation events provide opportunities to say ‘farewell’ to our Year Six students and to celebrate their contributions to our school over the time of their association with us. Everyone is most welcome to come along to the End of Year Mass on Tuesday morning 17th December at 10am. At this Mass, our Year Six students and leaving staff members will be especially acknowledged. The Year Six Graduation Dinner will be held that same evening and is an occasion for the students, their parents, staff and other invited special guests.

REPEAT NOTICES:
Readers/Library Books
Staff are now collecting all home readers and library books. We would appreciate all families taking a very close look at home to find any outstanding school readers or library books and returning them as soon as possible.
ADVENT - THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
On the third Sunday of Advent, the church celebrates the half way mark and so suggests pink or rose as the colour of the day. Like children, we get excited when we are half way there and pink symbolises that joy with a colour that holds onto the purple but promises the white of Christmas!
ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS APPEAL - thank you!
Thank you for your kind donations for the St Vincent de Paul annual Christmas appeal. Your generosity is very much appreciated and will make a huge difference to the wellbeing of many people in our local community at Christmas.
END OF YEAR MASS
A whole school Mass will be held on Tuesday 17TH December @ 10am. During this Mass we will celebrate the end of the school year and farewell our Year 6s and any families who are leaving the school.
All welcome!
A collection of art work from our students is on display this week at St Margaret’s Hall, corner Antill Street and Phillip Avenue, as part of the local ecumenical Nativity Festival. The artwork and the nativity crib display can be viewed, free of charge, this Wednesday, 11 December to Friday, 13 December, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and over the weekend from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
HOLY ROSARY’S CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS MASS
The Children’s Christmas Eve Mass will be celebrated on Monday 24th December at 6pm in Holy Rosary Church.

Art and Writing Competition Finalists
This year a number of year 5 students entered the 2019 Schools Reconciliation Challenge. Two students, Zoe Bertram and Tearia Teaiwa-Mortimer were finalists.
On Thursday 5th December, Zoe Bertram and Tearia Teaiwa-Mortimer attended the 2019 Schools Reconciliation Challenge awards and exhibition launch held at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre. Zoe’s artwork titled ‘Aboriginal Acceptance’ and Tearia’s poem titled ‘Our Story’ was framed and displayed for all to see. Tearia even had the privilege to read her poem at the launch. It is a proud moment for Rosary Primary School when students’ hard work and talent are recognised.

At this most special time of the year, we both want to acknowledge and thank all Rosary families who have supported our amazing Library this year. We are always so appreciative of the support given in a myriad of ways through...book covering, shelf-reading, being the Book Club convener, Book Club customers, Book Fair, book donations, Bookweek and weekly assistance returning books to the Library!
We wish all families leaving us a wonderful 2020 in their new schools - we will miss your little faces!! Have a happy and holy Christmas with a safe and relaxing holiday break to you all!!
Sandy and Jodie
Rosary Girls, Tearia (Year 5), Isla, Sophia and Sarah (Year 4), were a part of the Stallions U12 Division 1 Basketball team. The girls have had a great season so far winning all their games (except one). The basketball season will continue into next year and we wish the girls all the best for their finals! Well done girls, you should be very proud of your efforts!

Organised by the Woden Valley Youth Choir, this event is the second longest-running city community carols in Australia (Melbourne is the longest).
Come and join us for a night of song and celebration. It's a great way to begin the Christmas season.
We'll also be collecting donations for this year's charity.
