Principals Report Week 10 Term 4
Dear Parents and Friends,
As this is the final newsletter for the year, I take this opportunity to thank all the people who help to build the wonderful spirit of community that is Rosary Primary School through their hard work and dedication to our school.
I thank the staff for their devotion and professionalism throughout the year and for their genuine care for every child. I thank the Community Council Executive for the leadership and support they have offered. I thank our amazing parents and extended family members for their assistance in a myriad of ways. Thanks must also go to Father Kieran for his spiritual guidance and to the team at the Parish Office for their support. Finally, I thank the children for sharing their smiles and their stories with me, for their beautiful manners, their enthusiasm for learning and for taking pride in their school. They are a true blessing and a delight to me every day!
End of Year Mass and Year Six Graduation Dinner
The End of Year Mass and Graduation Dinner were two very special occasions; especially for the Year 6 students and their families and leaving members of our community. I thank Mrs Hinds for preparing such a beautiful Mass and Miss Garrett and Mr O’Brien for all the work they put into ensuring that the Graduation Dinner was a meaningful and memorable occasion. I would also like to thank Jackie Brady, Libby Blue and Urszula Bogdanoski for their organisation and preparation of the event. They worked so very hard to make the Graduation Dinner a truly special occasion for our leaving cohort of Yr 6 students.
There were many other jobs on the day, thanks to Luke Sharwood, Kumari Deen, Roseanne Rinaudo, Bob Parker, Ian Wilson, Melissa Thornton, Paulina Rakic, Jane Beltrani, Thuy Tran, Felicity Tonkin, Agi Liso and Kellie Olsen for ensuring they were done. The Yr 6 children were so very excited to see the room so beautifully decorated in their honour. The efforts of these hard-working people have been much appreciated by one and all. There were also many other parents who offered and were prepared to help, your support is very much appreciated.
Year 6 students: We wish you every blessing as you take the next step of your life journey and thank you for the wonderful contribution you have made to Rosary over the time you have been at the school.
At this time, we farewell some families who will end their association with the school because they will no longer have children enrolled – mind you, some of them will have children enrolling in future years! We thank them for their support of this community over the years and also wish them every happiness and blessing for the future. Goodbye to families:

Staffing News
Mrs Elisa Pavlic and Mrs Beth Campton will share the teaching of a Year 1 class next year. However, Mrs Pavlic will be taking Long Service Leave for the period of Term One in 2020. Mrs Pavlic works 4 days per week and during her absence Mrs Donna Gordon will teach the class for the same number of days. In her regular capacity as a teacher on the class, Mrs Beth Campton will teach for 1 day each week.
At the end of this school year, we farewell Miss Tess Harveyson and Mrs Melissa Nisbet. I thank both ladies for their commitment and care of the students in their classes and for their contributions to our school and community over their time of teaching at Rosary. I wish them every blessing for the coming year.
Thought for the holiday season:
“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”
Religious Education News
ADVENT - FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
On the fourth Sunday of Advent, the last purple candle, which is called the "Angel's Candle," is lit. This canle represents peace.
Traditionally, on Christmas Eve, the white center candle is lit. This "Christ Candle" represents the life of Jesus Christ that has come to light the world. It represents purity.
Christmas Day is the feast of the nativity, or birth, of Jesus Christ. The word Christmas is also used generically to refer to both the Twelve Days of Christmas and the 40-day period from Christmas Day until Candlemas, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, when Mary and Joseph presented the Christ Child in the Temple at Jerusalem, in accordance with the Jewish law. In centuries past, both periods were celebrated as an extension of the feast of Christmas Day, which began, rather than ended, the Christmas season.
END OF YEAR MASS
Thankyou to everyone who was able to attend our End of Year Mass on Tuesday.
It was a beautiful celebration of the school year and a fitting farewell for our Year 6 students, staff members and other families who are leaving the school.
