Principals Report Week 1 Term 2
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to a very different look and feel to Term Two! It was just wonderful to welcome a number of students back to the school premises and to connect with those who are learning from home using the remote learning model that has been put in place for this term. When I greeted the students who were present in the hall on our wet weather morning yesterday, I just wanted to put my arms around them and give them a big hug! Of course, with physical distancing in place as far as is possible in the school setting, I just expressed how wonderful it was to see their lovely, smiling faces again. The staff have all been missing having the students with us each day. From all accounts so far, apart from a few technical glitches, everything has gone well in terms of the remote learning program both at home and at school. I thank all my staff and all parents for the hard work that has gone into supporting the children with the new way of learning. I thank the children too for the wonderful way in which they have engaged so enthusiastically with the program. On Friday (tomorrow), the resource packs will be available for collection in the school hall for students who are not at school and will be distributed to students who are present.
Collection times from the school hall are as follows:
8.30 to 10.00am 12.00 to 2.00pm 3.00 to 5.30pm
Parents are asked to enter through the hall doors that lead directly onto the courts/carpark area. The packs will be in class groups on the stage and will be labelled with student names.
Please be aware that students will need to bring these resource packs to school with them on days that they attend school.
Catholic Schools Enrolment Period For All Catholic Schools
The Catholic Schools Enrolment Period is from Monday 4 May – Friday 22 May (Weeks 2 – 4 inclusive, Term 2) for students commencing in 2021. If you know of anyone outside of our school community who has a child at a Pre-school or Early Learning Centre, please notify them of the opportunity to enrol at Rosary Primary School during the above period. Enrolment forms can be found online via the school website. At this time, school tours, the Open Day and enrolment interviews have been suspended until further notice.
Baby Congratulations
Congratulations to Mrs Beth Campton and her husband James on the arrival of Frederick John who was born on 8th March. He is a gorgeous little brother for Jocelyn who is just delighted with the new addition to the family.
Congratulations to the Groves family on the arrival of Chloe Elizabeth who arrived on April 21st. Chloe is a beautiful little sister to Lachlan (Kindergarten) and William who just adore her.
Best wishes to both families and prayers for all God’s blessings to be showered upon them.
Condolences
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Mrs Elisa Pavlic’s dear mother a week before the school holiday break.
Please also keep the Anderson-Moore family in your prayers as Hugh (Yr 1) and Sebastian (Yr 3/4) tragically lost their aunt and cousin in a house fire on the Gold Coast recently.
I pray that the Lord will enfold all these much-loved family members in his embrace and give them eternal rest. I pray for strength and comfort for their families.
ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day was commemorated during the holiday break in a very different way this year and to acknowledge this important day which reminds us of the value of peace and freedom, I share the following famous poem with you.
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
