Principals Report Week 5 Term 2
Dear Parents and Friends,
This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday which concludes the 50 days of Easter. On this day, we are reminded of the power of the Holy Spirit and of the great gift of love that has been left to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Complete return to face-to-face teaching from June 2
From Tuesday 2 June all students are expected to be at school for face-to-face teaching and no program of remote learning will be offered after this date. In cases of long-term illness where the student is prevented from returning to school, parents or carers should provide a medical certificate and arrangements will be made between parents and teachers to provide learning materials as appropriate for the student’s particular situation. The same applies for students who have a condition which means it is not safe for them to return to school e.g. they have a suppressed immune system, or they are undergoing treatment such as chemotherapy.
In the interests of keeping our community as safe as possible, please keep your child at home if he or she is showing any signs of being unwell.
We are looking forward to welcoming all students back to school after the long weekend.
End of May is ‘Hats Off’ Day
In accordance with the Sun Smart Policy, the children do not need to wear a hat during the months of June and July. We will begin this practice next week. The usual rule about wearing the uniform hat will not be enforced over these two months but, of course, the children may wear hats if they wish as they do help to keep out the cold! School uniform beanies are available from the front office for $10 each and are a good option for the colder months. Please be aware that only the uniform beanie or one just like it - plain in navy acrylic or wool - are permitted at school.
Enrolment Period
The official enrolment period concludes tomorrow. (It was extended by one week due to the current health situation.) Please remember to complete the enrolment form as soon as possible if you wish to enrol your pre-school child into Kindergarten for 2021. If you are aware of friends or neighbours who have pre-school age children, you might also mention the need to lodge enrolment forms at this time.
Semester One Reports
As notified previously, the Semester One Reports will look different this year due to the change in the way teaching and learning has been conducted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Catholic system has modified the format for the Student Reports from Kindergarten to Year 6 to provide parents with specific information about their child’s achievement and progress.
The Semester One Student Report will be made available for parents to collect from the front office from 2pm on Thursday 2nd July. Please note that only the parent to whom the Report is addressed is permitted to collect it unless written and signed authority is presented for a delegate to collect the Report on the parent’s behalf.
Parent/Teacher Learning Conversations will be offered at the beginning of Week 2 in Term 3. We are not yet sure whether we will be permitted to have face-to-face meetings or need to conduct these via telephone or video conference. Please just be aware of the timing at this stage and I will update you as to the process once this is confirmed.
I wish everyone an enjoyable weekend and time to reflect on the true meaning of reconciliation as we mark Reconciliation Day with a public holiday on Monday.
Thought for the week:

Due to the current health pandemic restrictions, the online calendar for Term 2 has no events listed. We are hoping that as restrictions ease events will begin to resume and the calendar will be updated to reflect this. Dates for upcoming events will also be advertised in this space in the newsletter.
- Reconciliation Day Public Holiday - Monday 1st June
- Queens Birthday Public Holiday - Monday 8th June
Rosary Primary K-2 students participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime event in our School Library last Wednesday at 11am. We have participated in this event for many years now. I loved telling the children that we were part of over 1.3 million Aussie students reading the designated story at the same time!!! It was so lovely to see them enjoying the story of Whitney and Britney, chooks with a nightlife!! They left with a sticker, a smile and the chatter of a flamboyant story to remember!

National Reconciliation Week - 27th May to 3rd June 2020
On Monday 1st June, we celebrate the Reconciliation Week public holiday. This year, the theme for Reconciliation Week is ‘In This Together’. This theme reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all In This Together.
Reconciliation Week is a time to celebrate and build positive and respectful relationships and connections between Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The third annual Reconciliation Day event in Canberra will look a little different this year. Hop onto http://events.act.gov.au/reconciliation-day to find out more!
By acknowledging Reconciliation Week within our shared history, and engaging with events celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and culture, we are actively continuing on our path towards Reconciliation.
