Principals Report Week 8 Term 2
Dear Parents and Friends,
Tomorrow is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The devotion takes Jesus Christ's physical heart as the representation of his divine love and compassion for humanity. Acknowledging this special Feast, I share the following prayer with you:
“O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will.
Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you.
Protect me in the midst of danger.
Comfort me in my afflictions.
Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.
Amen.”
End of Semester Reports
All Semester One Reports will be mailed out to parents this semester. Please be aware that we will not be providing the reports for collection from the front office. I ask you to check to ensure that the school has your correct mailing address. I extend my thanks to the teachers for the time and effort they put into preparing the reports. The teachers work very hard to ensure that the reports are an accurate reflection of each child’s progress and achievement. As advised previously, this semester, the reports will look different as they will take into account the remote learning that has occurred due to the COVID-19 situation.
Food waste
Sadly, there seems to be a lot of food waste generated each day by the children – sometimes, whole fresh sandwiches and wraps are found in hiding places; not necessarily the bin! Please speak to your child about what their likes and dislikes are in terms of sandwich fillings and fruit. Also, ask your child to bring home what they do not eat so that you can see exactly how much they have or have not consumed during the day. In addition, I ask that you consider carefully just how many ‘treat’ options you provide for your child. Many ‘sometimes’ foods appear to have become ‘everyday’ foods for some children. When children are given several choices, they usually opt for the less healthy ones first, meaning they have little room left for the healthier options or they just eat several treats and discard the ‘good’ food. Teachers do their best to supervise at eating times and check on what children are eating but we need your support in this matter to ensure the children stay healthy and have the nutritional foods they need to give them the energy and capacity to learn and play well at school.
Lost Property
The lost property box fills up very quickly with items of uniform, lunch boxes and drink bottles. At this time of year, it is amazing to see so many jumpers and jackets without owners! Please ensure that all items of uniform and accessories are clearly labelled with your child’s full name. It is very hard to return property when no name is visible or the writing is not legible. It is a shame to see so many ‘near new’ items in the lost property box which do not bear a name! Lost property is located next to the door that leads to the front office from the quadrangle. Please come and have a look for lost items if you have the chance; otherwise, ask your child to check the boxes for any stray articles of clothing. Please also check at home to see that your child has their own items of uniform and not those of another student. Please return any items not belonging to your family so that they can be returned to the rightful owners. Thank you.

Updated Public Transport Timetables from 18 July 2020
From Saturday 18 July 2020, Transport Canberra will be updating timetables for bus services.
These changes will help make public transport in Canberra easier to use by providing more services and increased frequency, to ensure that people have greater opportunity to spread out their travel across the day as we recover from COVID-19.
Transport Canberra has worked closely with the school community and we are providing increased frequency and additional services for school students across Canberra.
As a new timetable is being introduced, there will be minor changes for all students travelling to and from school on public transport across Canberra from the first day of Term 3, 2020 (Monday 20 July 2020). In most cases, this will mean that students will catch the same service from the same stop, but the times that services arrive and leave may change.
You can find out more about the specific changes by:
- checking the information packs for each school, which are online at transport.act.gov.au
- checking timetables for each route (including school specials), which are online at transport.act.gov.au
- calling 13 17 10.
Please see the Rosary Timetable included below in this week's Veritas.
