Principals Report Week 5 Term 2
Dear Parents and Friends,
This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday which concludes the 50 days of Easter. On this day, we are reminded of the power of the Holy Spirit and of the great gift of love that has been left to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus. I share this reflection with you from With Grateful Hearts – Spiritual Reflections for Everyday Living by Sr Marcina Wiederkehr.
“The doors were locked and the disciples hearts were fearful. Fearful hearts are locked hearts. Locked doors and locked hearts, however, were not strong enough to prevent Jesus from lovingly breaking into their lives. Jesus breathed on his friends giving them the first fruits of the Spirit.
Later on Pentecost Day, still lacking in power but full of hope, these same disciples and probably others waited for the promise to be fulfilled – the promise of receiving the fullness of the Spirit. That they were waiting together says much about the importance of community. With fragile hope they waited. Suddenly the joyful, awesome sound of wind and fire arrive. Fearful hearts blossom with courage. The barriers that came from not understanding one another burn away with the fire of the spirit. Surely in that moment the disciples must have remembered when Jesus came through the locked doors and breathed on them. In the mystery of eternity, you and I were present also. Whatever ups and downs we experience on our path of life, let us always remember the breath of the Spirit.”
National Simultaneous Story Time
Thank you to Mrs Vincent and Mrs Dawson for getting everyone excited about National Simultaneous Story Time which took place this morning for classes from Kindergarten to Year Two. The shared book titled “Give me some Space” has been written by Philip Bunting. This event is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools and pre-schools, child-care centres, bookshops and family homes as well as many other places around Australia and New Zealand ….. and all the children love the experience!
Uniform
Please be aware that the sports track pants are to be either the standard uniform item or a plain pair of black track pants and not a tight fitting active-wear style or leggings. If extra warmth is needed, these tight-fitting versions can be worn under the track pants.
Leggings are not an approved item of school uniform. Girls are to wear navy blue tights with the Winter dress.
Please also be aware that rugby and netball jumpers/hoodies, even from Rosary teams, are not approved items of school uniform. Please save these for the sports fields.
Collector’s Cards/Tokens/Swaps
This is a gentle reminder to parents that we do not allow students to bring collector’s cards or tokens to school and we do not allow ‘swaps’ to occur. The reason for this is that issues occur on the playground. Children will often intend to ‘lend’ a card or token but the borrower considers it a ‘swap’ which is for ‘keeps’! Also, cards and tokens can be lost or damaged which can cause some distress. At the moment, bubble poppers are in vogue. We do allow these at school but some students have started swapping these which is not permitted. It is also at the teacher’s discretion as to whether these can be used in class as, though they can be helpful to settle some students, they can be a distraction to learning for others.
Thought for the Week:

Library News - Simultaneous Storytime 2021
A very special reading of ‘I Want Some Space’, by Australian author Philip Bunting, was held in the Library at 11.00am today! Well over 130 students came along at recess to hear Dr Shannon Walker, an American astronaut, read the story from the International Space Station! Pretty cool experience seeing her float around reading a book - better presentation than I could provide!!!!!

Aero Club goes Helicopter Club for one day only!!
Our wonderful janitor, Mr Peter Ederle, conducted a one-off presentation of his helicopter models in the Library yesterday! The enthralled students became super excited when he flew the smallest helicopter in the back area of the Library. When Peter puts on a display, it’s always over-subscribed... a testament to the continued interest in Aero Club at Rosary! Thank you Peter!!
